WordPress Theme Development
Custom themes coded from scratch, safe child themes for the theme you already own, and pixel-accurate Figma or PSD conversions — built by engineers, not page-builder shortcuts.
Three ways we build WordPress themes
Custom themes from scratch
A theme written for your site alone — clean template hierarchy, no parent-theme bloat, no unused CSS. You get faster load times, full control of the markup, and code your next developer can actually read.
Child themes & customization
Already own a premium theme? We extend it properly through a child theme, so your changes survive every update. Layout changes, new templates, custom fields, and hooks instead of hacks.
Figma or PSD to WordPress
Send us the design file and we return a working theme. Pixel-accurate on desktop and mobile, with editable content areas so your team can update pages without touching code.
What every theme build includes
Responsive to the breakpoint
Tested on real viewport sizes, not just a desktop browser resized. Mobile, tablet, and desktop behave the way the design intends.
Built for Core Web Vitals
Lean CSS and JS, correctly sized images, and no render-blocking bloat, so the theme starts from a good performance baseline instead of fighting one.
SEO-ready markup
Semantic HTML, one H1 per page, clean heading order, and schema-friendly structure. The things that quietly cost rankings when a theme gets them wrong.
Editor-friendly
Custom fields and clear template areas so your team edits content without breaking layout or calling a developer for every change.
Secure by default
Escaped output, sanitized input, and no abandoned third-party libraries bundled in. Themes are a common attack surface; ours are not.
Documented and yours
You own the code. We hand over documentation covering template structure, custom fields, and how to extend it later.
Custom theme or premium theme?
An off-the-shelf theme is the right call for a simple brochure site on a tight budget. It stops being the right call once you are paying for plugins to undo what the theme does, or waiting on a theme vendor to fix something that is costing you conversions.
A premium theme makes sense when
Your requirements are standard, you need to launch quickly, and you can live inside the theme’s options panel. Budget is the main constraint.
A custom theme makes sense when
You have specific functionality, a real brand, performance targets, or a design that does not map onto any template. You plan to keep the site for years.
A child theme makes sense when
The premium theme is 80% right. We change the 20% properly, so updates never wipe your work — usually the cheapest path to a site that feels custom.
How a theme build runs
- Scope. We review the design or the existing theme, agree on templates, and give you a fixed quote.
- Build. Development happens on a staging site you can watch. No black box.
- Review. You test on staging. We work through your feedback before anything touches production.
- Launch. We deploy, check redirects and analytics, and monitor the first days closely.
- Aftercare. Optional monthly management keeps the theme updated and secure.
Theme development questions
How long does a custom WordPress theme take?
Most builds run three to six weeks depending on the number of templates and how much custom functionality is involved. Child theme work is usually far shorter.
Will I be locked into working with you?
No. You own the theme code outright and it is documented so any competent WordPress developer can pick it up.
Can you match my Figma design exactly?
Yes. We build to the design file and review side by side. Where a design would hurt performance or accessibility we flag it and propose an alternative rather than shipping it silently.
Do you work with Gutenberg and page builders?
We do. A custom theme can expose native Gutenberg blocks or work alongside the builder your team already knows, so editing stays familiar.
What about my existing content and SEO?
Content carries over and we preserve URL structure. If URLs must change, we map redirects so you do not lose rankings. See our SEO services if you want the rebuild to gain ground rather than hold it.
Tell us what you are building
Send us the design, the theme you are stuck with, or just the problem. We will tell you honestly whether custom, child, or off-the-shelf is the right answer.
